Ever since organised Association football began in Australia in the nineteenth century one of the aims of those playing and administering the game was to have an Australian team go on tour to the United Kingdom or have a team from there tour Australia.
Ian Dobson’s coaching record is quite phenomenal considering he has had a busy professional life outside the game and it is Australia’s loss that he has not been entrusted with one of the top jobs at national or international level in recent years. As a player he was able to get the absolute maximum out of his talents and having to work hard to do that, he passed on that expectation to generations of players at a number of clubs at national league and state level.
Andrea (Andrew) Zinni was an exciting attacker for the Socceroos, Victoria and Brunswick Juventus and Preston Makedonia in the National Soccer League in the 1980s and 1990s.

It is very appropriate that the 2012–13 season of the A-League starts with a Melbourne derby, for there have been many stirring battles between local teams over the years. The Victory versus Heart rivalry has only been going since 2010 but it is already one of the most eagerly awaited clashes by fans of both sides.
