Cockburn’s second-half substitute John Thornley bagged a hat-trick off the bench to lead his side to victory. First half goals to English midfielders Paul Lloyd and Jack Eades sent Cockburn on their way, before Thornley’s late heroics.

The home side had hit the front midway through the second half with goals from Ryan Francis and player-coach Matt Lock, but Bayswater hit back to take all three points. Coach Chris Coyne was happy with the win despite a below par performance. “It was a disgustingly ugly win, but I’d bite your hand off for it,” he said. “They’re the ones you want, when you don’t play well but you win, then you’re happy. I was disappointed with the performance but happy with the result.”
Armadale surged to the top of the WA Premier League following a dramatic 3-2 victory over Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park. New signing Dannie Richman honoured his first outing for the Reds by grabbing a stoppage time winner after goals by Ravi Kuppusamy and Mark Peers were cancelled out by Jack Eades’ first half double. “It’s a great result, it was a good game, entertaining for the spectators and (we’re) happy to get three points,” said winning coach Lee Bamber, who isn’t about to get carried away by his teams’ undefeated start to the season. “If we’re going to be top of the league I’d rather it was in September, not in March.”
